Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen, REMATCH
Yahoo Sports
After months of rumors, the UFC finally confirmed that they will head back to Brazil in June. At Joao Havelange Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silva will rematch with Chael Sonnen for the UFC middleweight belt. After a season of coaching of the first Brazilian "The Ultimate Fighter," Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort will fight. To the press release:
"This will be the biggest sporting event of the year," said UFC president Dana White. "Bigger than the NFL, the NBA, you name it - UFC 147 will be the biggest. The whole world wants to see this fight between Silva and Sonnen. We are broadcast in over 150 countries in 22 languages in half a billion homes. Wherever those fans are, they are going to be watching this fight." Don't anybody tell White, but this is an Olympic year. One fight card in Brazil will not surpass even the opening ceremony for the Summer Olympics, but it's a nice goal. Joao Havelange holds 46,931 for a soccer match, but presumably, floor seats will help the UFC break their record of 55,000, set at UFC 129 in Toronto.
Regardless of how many people tune in or turn out for the fights, this rematch will be fun. The last time the two fought, Sonnen beat up Silva for four and a half rounds. Three minutes into the final round, Silva used a triangle armbar to submit Sonnen. Since then, animosity between the two has reached epic levels. Sonnen still refuses to admit that he lost to Silva.
Though it's still March, the build-up for this fight should border on insane.

Chipper in the hall? NO WAY!!
by Uncle George
Got a little chuckle when I read yesterday's paper.
Chipper Jones announced his retirement and the author called Jones a future hall of famer.
What a joke.
So this morning I watched ‘This Old Cub,’ which is the documentary about Ron Santo. Of all the thousands and thousands of injustices I've witnessed in my life I consider the exclusion of Ron from the Hall to be the most unfair ever.
Jones in the Cooperstown. I’m still chuckling. He couldn't sniff Santo's jock-strap!
Jones was a good player, a very good player, but I want each and every one of those deadbeat idiots that could not see fit to elect Ron to sit down and explain to me why the Chipster is hall of fame material and Santo is not.
I don't have the facts and figures in front of me, but I'd be willing to bet that Chip was always regarded as "adequate" as a third sacker.
Santo and Brooks Robinson were the acknowledged as the two best of their era.
As a batter, Jones might have a slight statistical edge and I emphasize the word slight.
Of course we all know that Ron played for the woeful Cubs and that has always been held against him, but Jones played on a perennial powerhouse that managed to win how many World Series rings?
I got nothing against the Jones guy, but if I were building a major league ballclub and I had to choose between Santo and Jones in their prime the choice for me would be a no-brainer.
I hope Ronnie is running the bases like Lou Brock in his next life. till next time....HEY HEY

Death of Tebow Mania
by Patrick Ronald
This guy is a joke of an athlete. The media fed into this joke called Tebow Mania all season.
It was the most overhyped, annoying focus of the year. Tebow this - Tebow that.
Enough is enough already.
I liked the guy who came out of Florida with a Heisman Trophy and two National Championships.
It was also a breathe of fresh air in the beginning. A NFL player who wasn't getting a DUI or shooting up a nightclub or beating his kids and wife.
A humble, Catholic virgin, which I still don't buy.
He wasn't the face of a NCAA Football powerhouse at Florida and didn't have drunk soriety girls chasing him around after Saturday victories.
Then I watched him play at the NFL level and I stopped believing.
The media beat the dead horse and his final game of a brief stint with Denver came at the hands of a legendary QB - Tom Brady, who reminded ESPN and the rest of the world how ordinary of a human being 'God's Son' actually is. He got put in his place that exceptional Saturday night in New England.
The Bronco's front office didn't even believe in Tebow Mania when an INJURED Peyton Manning became available.
Manning 'says he can play and be effective.' He didn't have much of a season last year so it's a mighty big risk.
However, a previously injured Manning is better than Tebow any day of the week - especially Sundays.
Yesterday, Tebow was traded to the New York Jets, who is also a hyped. It should be a great fit for the 'worst white hype.'
I don't know why anyone would even trade for Tebow. I would have just wait for him to be released and saved my draft picks, which will eventually show him up anyway.
Do the Jets really think he's the answer? A team with a circus of a locker room and a clown of a coach might say yes, but I say no way get real.
Now you have two garbage quarterbacks and the worst part they play in the media's favorite city and TEBLOW is this much closer to Bristol, Connecticut. The hype won't end fans. It's going to be another miserable year to watch NFL Gameday. Good Luck.

St Patrick's Weekend Recap
by Patrick Ronald
Wow!!! What a weekend for sports.
Bulls started slow and picked it up. Hawks are looking strong and the NCAA brackets never let us down.
I didn’t see an ounce of basketball on Friday due to work, but I'm glad I didn’t see the Bulls game against Portland.
I didn’t hear a word about it and that’s OK with me. Portland is a team in turmoil and the Roseless Bulls couldn’t hang, apparently.
I had tickets for Saturday’s game against Philadelphia. After a pathetic home loss Friday I wasn’t sure what to expect.
The Bulls came out flat. Philadelphia started the game on an 11-0 run.
Chicago looked soft and scored a season low 11 in the first and were down 13.
I was disappointed with Luol Deng’s lack of point production without Rose, but the ‘Bench Mob’ stepped up big to hold down the league leading 37th victory.
CJ Watson had 20, Taj Gibson had 11, Kyle Korver had 11 and Omer Asik and JLIII combined for 10.
The Blackhawks are on a three game winning streak after pounding Washington last night.
They team is starting to look like a contender again, but we all know how soon things can change.
Chicago beat the west-leading Blues Tuesday, Dallas Friday and of course Washington on Sunday.
All three are currently playoff teams. It’s exciting to see them playing well. Let’s just hope the good string of play sticks around.
In terms of March Madness – my bracket is UGLY to say the least. I had Missouri going to the Final Four.
Whoops!!! I know I wasn’t the only one. I had Duke losing in the round of 32 so that didn’t effect my bracket too bad.
However, I had Duke losing to Notre Dame, so I was wrong on both accounts. Syracuse had a scare on Thursday, but managed to pull out a victory and dominate on Saturday.
It also upsets me that I LOVE Georgetown basketball so much and they NEVER show up in March for the tournament. I would fire John Thompson III.
There’s still 16 teams marching, including Xavier, Ohio and NC State. Those are the biggest surprises.
What’s not a surprise is Kentucky, Ohio State, Michigan State, Kansas, Wisconsin, Marquette and North Carolina.
This will play itself out and I’m confident the Madness is far from over.
I still have three of my four final four teams alive, but I picked UNC to be the last team standing. With their star-point-guard out with a broken wrist I might be wrong, but time will tell.

Yet Another Victim
by Patrick Ronald
We’re living in some real difficult economic times. We all have family and friends struggling to find jobs and striving to provide for their families. In some cases, many of us might find it selfish, greedy and wrong of a 23-year-old man with so much power as to relieve other grown men of their jobs.
However, in this unique case Bulls fans across the world can find some humor in the fact that at least three NBA head coaches have lost their jobs at the expense of Derrick Rose.
The phenomenon began on January 31, 2011 when Jim O’Brien was relieved of his coaching duties two days after losing to the Bulls 110-89.
O’Brien must have sensed something wrong because he was ejected in his final game.
Rose dropped 20 points and seven assists on the cold Saturday night with a stomach ulcer.
O’Brien has a career .481 winning percentage and is not currently coaching in the NBA. He never really had much luck in Indiana.
Then only about two weeks later, the Bulls hosted Utah’s legendary head coach, Jerry Sloan.
The Jazz lost to Chicago 91-86 on February 9, 2011 and Sloan resigned the next day, February 10.
Sloan, who is reportedly interested in Rose’s third victims former job in New York, boasts a .603 winning percentage as 26 years as head coach.
The most recent laugh came today when Knicks former head coach Mike D’Antoni announced his resignation today, March 14, 2012. The Knicks visited the United Center on March 12 and Rose and company rudely sent New York home with a 104-99 loss.
D’Antoni, who I think is extremely overrated, is sitting on the couch with a .533 winning percentage in 10 seasons.
Play defense Mike. I’m glad you didn’t take Chicago’s offers serious years ago because playing only offense obviously doesn’t get you anywhere in the NBA.
Overall, some people might call Rose and family Bullies, but I call it hilarious. Keep up the good work fellas and my only question is who’s his next victim?

White Sox Baseball - Game Numero Uno
by Patrick Ronald
It had to be about 3:30 this afternoon.
I was driving home from work and I dialed into 670 ‘The Score,’ which many of you know is Chicago’s hometown sports station.
It is also the home of my beloved White Sox.
Today was their first ‘official’ game and broadcast of the 2012 season.
I know it’s spring training. I don’t read much into records or stats. I know on any given day one team can be playing their opening day starting line up against a split squad with minimal talent.
There are many factors to a victory in spring training. This I understand.
However, heading into the top of the sixth inning, which is when I began listening, the Southsiders were tied at one with the Los Angeles Dodgers, who they share their home complex with.
After the White Sox finally retired the Dodgers in the sixth inning – LA had batted around and scored five runs.
I’m not stressing about it. It’s spring training.
It’s just extremely fitting that the first time I tune in to the Sox this season, then get smashed for a five run inning.
There is zero hope on the Southside this year, and the sixth inning of this game only re-enforces the fact that the White Sox will be lucky to earn 75 wins.
It’s going to be a rough one.
Remember the night Indiana danced?
by Patrick Ronald
Remember when the Bulls lost to Indiana at home on January 25. The Pacers celebrated on the United Center's floor, and locker room.

Remember when Derrick Rose didn't appreciate the 'Hoosiers' lack of sportsmanship.
"I'll never forget how they celebrated just from winning this game," Rose said during a post game loss that January night. "I can't wait to play them again."
Well tonight is that night. The Pacers visit the Madhouse and tipoff is at 7pm.
"Derrick gets hype off people celebrating," Joakim Noah said. "When people talk about celebration I just feel like, 'You're not going to out-celebrate me.' Roy Hibbert cannot out-celebrate me. So if they want to see some celebration when we win, I can show them some celebration ... I know how to celebrate."
I see a big game from the reigning MVP.
Indiana's head coach, Frank Vogel, defended his team after the January victory.
He said his team was excited for a road victory against a good basketball team.
"I just think it's the thrill of victory," he added a few days following. "If they want to add some spice to the rivalry we welcome that. Rivalries are fun. Winning is fun. It's all good."
Remember, DRose isn't the guy you want to piss off. The stone-faced 'Windy City Assassin' dropped 35 on Philadelphia last night. The same 76ers team who pounded the NBA's best team by 16 points in early February.
That's how he gets revenge. Through the wrath of basketball.
"I haven't forgotten about anything," he said last night in Philadelphia. "I remember that.
"They're a good team. I know they're definitely going to be ready. I know we're going to be ready. It should be an exciting game."

Deng, It's Him!
by Ken Kay
I couldn't help but notice the other night when Luol Deng hit those two big threes against the Spurs that this is the Chicago Bulls for the 2011-12 season. They aren't going to make a trade for a big guy or one more shooter. They have their team in place right now.
There was so much talk during the offseason about getting another shooter to compliment Rose and I couldn't have agreed more. Even with the addition of Rip Hamilton, many still thought it wasn't good enough.
But here the Bulls are with a 31-8 record and sitting atop of the Eastern Conference by two games. And I have to admit, I'm still guilty and agree with the sports world when they say "the Heat are the team to beat". After all, they are the reigning Eastern Conference Champs. With that said, I do think the Bulls have what it takes to beat the Heat this year.
Whether or not they add a big or another shooter, the core of this team will get it done. Luol Deng is having a helluva year and is starting to look like the extra shooter everyone thought the Bulls needed. Then you add a healthy Rip Hamilton running around to the mix and the Bulls have their formula.
I believe the Bulls actually have what they thought they needed all along. He also isn't afraid to take the shot when needed. Deng+Rose = Success.
