Fighting to the Finish

by Uncle George

Attention to all those Cub haters out there who are rejoicing on their pathetic record - I prefer to highlight our positives.

How about this one?  Twice this past week the 'fight to the finish' Cubs have scored four runs in the ninth inning of hopelessly lost games.  These were both games which they had been shutout thru eight.

These fighting Cubs, who had gone 0-4 and left five guys in scoring position earlier in the game came up big when THE GAME WASN'T ON THE LINE.  That's how Soriano earns his multi-millions.

This team has got to be light years ahead of every team in baseball in the stat of men left in scoring position, especially with less than 2 out.

My suggestion is simple.  Immediately get rid of Soriano,  Stewart and Soto.  Between the 3 of them they have probably left about 200 stranded runners already.  The pitchers are starting to unravel as they consistently get no run support and my prediction that they will lose 100 plus games is starting to look like a no-brainer.

I'm just glad that when I had my brakes worked on last week the mechanic wasn't one of those three guys.  I know baseball is the quintessential game of failure but come on...this is taking failure to a new level.  till next time     HEY!!!  HEY!!!
